Having attended school in Jaipur surrounded by relatives in the gemstone cutting and trading industry, Arunima was exposed to the beauty and artistry of handcrafted Indian jewelry at a very young age.
Her passion for jewelry began to turn into a career with a basic design course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), one of India's premiere design institutes. Then, Arunima went on to spend a year learning a professional jeweler’s fundamental skills with Indian craftsmen at the Jewelry Design and Technology Institute. The course, run in collaboration with NIFT and the World Gold Council, allowed her to focus on both modern and traditional methods of jewelry manufacturing, including Kundan setting, pure 24 karat gold setting, metallurgy, wax carving, casting and mould making. She also learnt Diamond and Gemstone Grading at the Indian Institute Of Gemology.
Heavily influenced by traditional craftsmanship, Arunima loves the style, quality and romanticism of jewelry designed in the Victorian, Mughal and Deco periods. Her flair for design, coupled with an eye for detail and emphasis on quality finishing, helps her jewelry - a fusion of the ancient and the modern - stand out.
Arunima lives near New Delhi, India with her husband, and meets by appointment only.
